Paul is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 40 years’ of experience in the property and construction industry.

He began his career as an undergraduate in a major building consultancy practice, before moving to a thriving architectural firm in Bloomsbury Square, London, where he developed a solid foundation in high-quality building design principles.

Paul went on to gain valuable experience across both Local Authority and private consultancy roles, ultimately joining Freeth Melhuish in the mid-1990s. There, with the support of the Partnership, he established and led a successful and respected Building Surveying team.

Throughout his career, Paul has advised a wide range of high-profile clients and solicitors on matters including Technical Due Diligence surveys, construction project management, dilapidations, defect analysis, and expert witness work. Known for his dedication and energy, he continues to travel extensively across the UK to support clients with a broad variety of complex and interesting property challenges.

Outside of work, Paul leads an active and adventurous life. He combines his love of foreign travel with long-haul motorcycle adventures both on and off tarmac, motorbike racing, and a passion for rugby. His travels often take him well off the beaten track, where he explores his interests in social history and architecture.

He was once quoted as saying:
“My interests are Abbot Ale, motorbikes, and rugby — which over the years have proved to be no use whatsoever in my career, but they have trained me to drink beer quickly in a muddy field.”

Over the years, Paul has built a broad and diverse social network across many countries. If he’s not at work, you’ll most likely find him enjoying time with his family and friends—whether at home or on another far-flung adventure.
